Command, control and coordination training that works under real-world pressure
1705 Consultancy delivers specialist Incident Command and Live Exercising training designed to build confident, lawful and effective commanders for events, venues and multi-agency environments.
Every course we deliver has one clear purpose: to give leaders the tools, language and rehearsed muscle-memory to command incidents decisively — keeping people safe, operations compliant, and evidence trails clean.

Bronze & Silver Command for Events builds leaders who hold the line under pressure. Learn clear roles and command intent, set SMART objectives, deliver succinct briefings (IIMARCH/METHANE), and run a disciplined control-room rhythm (logs, timelines, tasking, handovers). We cover JESIP, proportionate decision-making, legal/accountability, and post-incident documentation — so operations stay safe, lawful and on time. Ideal for supervisors, duty managers and event controllers. Book a desktop or live exercise to embed skills on your site.

Major Incident Command & M/ETHANE trains leaders to declare, structure, and run a major incident with confidence. Practise using M/ETHANE — Major incident, Exact location, Type, Hazards, Access, Number/severity, Emergency services — to align agencies fast from the first call. We cover roles (Bronze/Silver/Gold), control-room rhythm (logs, timelines, tasking, handovers), JESIP principles, and legal/accountability. Finish with realistic comms drills and a clear action plan that strengthens your risk assessments and on-site procedures.

JESIP in Practice turns Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles into actions your teams can deliver. We drill co-locate, communicate, coordinate, shared situational awareness and joint understanding of risk using M/ETHANE, JDM, and clear briefing/hand-over models. Expect control-room rhythm (logs, timelines, tasking), liaison roles, and multi-agency scenarios that align police, fire, ambulance and site teams to act as one. Finish with a simple joint action plan you can use tomorrow.

Control Room Setup & Decision Logging shows your team how to run the room like pros: clear roles (lead, loggist, comms, liaison), tight radio discipline and talkgroup plans, live boards/timelines, and decision logs that stand up to scrutiny (rationale, options, JDM, actions, handovers). We'll set the room layout, briefs, and battle rhythm, drill M/ETHANE/JESIP updates, and embed a simple evidence trail — so nothing is missed, leadership is clear, and your risk assessments turn into calm, auditable command on the day.

Show Stop, Pause & Restart Protocols trains teams to make fast, defensible calls under pressure. Use clear stop/pause criteria, coordinated PA/radio messaging, and a structured restart checklist (safety checks, briefings, comms, stakeholder sign-off) to protect life and reputation. We rehearse roles, timelines, and evidence logging so you act decisively, recover cleanly, and keep operations safe and compliant.

Multi-Agency Live Exercise delivers a realistic joint drill with police, ambulance and fire to sharpen interfaces and stress-test your plans, comms and command. We rehearse M/ETHANE/JESIP, control-room rhythm (logs, timelines, handovers), PA/radio messaging, cordons and casualty flow — then debrief fast and issue a defensible action report with priorities, owners and timelines. Tailored to your site and risks, the exercise builds confidence, exposes gaps, and leaves you evidence-ready for Martyn's Law and internal audit.

Bronze Command covers small-to-medium incidents (medical emergency, fight, power failure); Silver covers major multi-agency incidents (mass casualty, terrorism, large-scale evacuation). Smaller venues typically need Bronze; larger venues or major events should train both levels.
M/ETHANE is a standardised report format (My name, Entry point, Type, Hazards, Access, Number affected, Equipment) that improves communication between your team and emergency services. It ensures critical information is conveyed clearly and quickly under pressure.
Yes — command structures, decision logging, and communication protocols learned in training are directly applicable to daily operations and any escalation. Many clients find their general team communication improves significantly.
Show-Stop (cancel), Pause (suspend temporarily), and Restart (resume safely) are decision trees for major incidents at live events. They integrate incident command, communication, stakeholder management, and legal liability — going beyond evacuation to address event continuity.
JESIP (Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles) is designed for emergency services, but your senior staff benefit from understanding it so you communicate effectively with police, fire, and ambulance crews who operate using JESIP principles.
Live exercises typically run 2–4 hours and simulate realistic scenarios (active threat, mass casualty, structural failure) with your staff, emergency services, and potentially council representatives. We can fully tailor the scenario to your venue.
A dedicated, pre-planned Control Room with communication equipment, decision logs, and contact lists is ideal but not essential. We can assess your existing space and recommend setup improvements for effective incident management.
Our training covers media protocol — designated spokesperson, holding statements, information vetting before release, and managing misinformation. We’ll help you draft template responses and practise press interactions so you maintain control under pressure.
