Course Overview

Silver is the tactical level of command. At an event, the silver commander takes the strategy and priorities set at gold and decides how the response will be delivered: where resources go, what bronze commanders are told to do, and how the plan changes as the incident develops.

This course is for event safety managers, operations managers, heads of security and venue managers who take that role, or support the person who does. It is built around live events and crowded places, and it uses the same doctrine the emergency services use, so your command team and theirs speak the same language.

Day one: the tactical commander. The role of silver, turning strategic aims into a tactical plan, the Joint Decision Model, briefing with IIMARCH, deploying and tasking resources, information management and working alongside police, fire and ambulance commanders under the JESIP principles.

Day two: commanding the incident. Crowd dynamics and safety at tactical level, managing escalation, show stop and evacuation decisions, handovers, decision logs and defensibility, then a multi agency tabletop exercise with delegates in the silver role, finishing with a structured debrief.

This course is part of our command pathway: Event Control and Bronze Command, Silver Event Command and Strategic (Gold) Crisis Command, supported by JESIP for Events and Venues.

About the Trainer
