Event Control and Bronze Command Training

A two day course for the people who run event control and lead at the scene. Course Overview

When something goes wrong at an event, the first minutes are decided in event control and by the people on the ground. This course gives supervisors, control room staff and duty managers the structure to lead in those minutes: who is in charge, what to report, what to record and when to escalate.

It brings together what used to be four separate courses: bronze command, major incident command and M/ETHANE, control room setup and decision logging, and show stop, pause and restart protocols. It is built around live events, stadiums, festivals, venues and crowded places, not public sector doctrine alone.

Day one: event control and command foundations. Command structures at events (operational, tactical and strategic), the role of event control, setting up and running a control room, radio discipline and information flow, decision logs and the loggist role, and M/ETHANE reporting.

Day two: leading at bronze. Dynamic risk assessment, the Joint Decision Model, working with the emergency services under the JESIP principles, show stop, pause and restart decisions, escalating to silver, briefing and handover, and a full tabletop exercise run from a simulated event control room, with a facilitated debrief.

This course is part of our command pathway: Event Control and Bronze Command, Silver Event Command and Strategic (Gold) Crisis Command, supported by JESIP for Events and Venues.

About the Trainer

Certified by 1705 Consultancy and delivered by former emergency services commanders who have led incidents under real conditions, not just studied them. 1705 Consultancy also provides event command and safety management on live events, so the course reflects how incidents actually unfold in a control room and on the ground.
