A New Standard for Frontline Counter-Terrorism Awareness
The SFJ Awards Level 2 Award in Counter-Terrorism Awareness has been developed in direct response to market demand and to the legislative reality created by the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn's Law).
It is designed for the people who are often on the frontline but who are not required to carry out formal counter-terrorism risk assessments. Front-of-house staff. Security officers. Stewards. Facilities teams. The people who see your venue every day — and who will be the first to notice when something is wrong.
Delivered in a single day, with a 25-question multiple-choice assessment set and quality-assured by SFJ Awards. A free resit is included. No prior experience is required.

Important
Not a Replacement for the Level 3
We developed this qualification in direct response to the market asking for it. There is genuine demand for a shorter, accredited counter-terrorism awareness course for frontline staff for whom the Level 3 is beyond the scope of their role.
The Level 2 is not a quicker or easier route to the same outcome. It is a different qualification for a different audience. Organisations that require formal counter-terrorism risk assessment capability — particularly those with responsibilities under the Enhanced Tier of Martyn's Law — should look to the Level 3 CTPSaP.

Rob founded 1705 Consultancy to deliver the kind of counter-terrorism advice and protective security support that major organisations genuinely need — not off-the-shelf compliance, but expert guidance grounded in years of operational policing and security advisory experience.
As a former Detective Inspector with 23 years in Essex Police, Rob has direct experience managing individuals linked to counter-terrorism and serious violence, and has spent much of his post-policing career advising some of the UK's most complex and high-profile operating environments. His client base spans major hotel groups, luxury private members clubs, Mayfair hospitality venues, UK theme parks and large-scale events — providing counter-terrorism threat assessments, asset and reputational security advice, protective security planning and safety and security frameworks across a wide range of disciplines.
A Cambridge M.St graduate and Association of Security Consultants Full Member with Accredited Security Adviser (MASc) status, Rob brings the academic rigour of formal security education together with the operational credibility of frontline policing. He holds SIA registration and advises organisations at board level on security risk, preparedness and incident response.
Emma is a former Hostage and Crisis Negotiator and Tactical Firearms Commander with over 25 years in policing. She has negotiated in cases involving kidnap, extortion and terrorism, and commanded in live, high-threat environments where the decisions were never theoretical.
Her understanding of human behaviour under extreme pressure is unmatched — and it informs every course she delivers. Emma brings the kind of perspective that no amount of classroom study alone can replicate: what it actually feels like to make critical decisions when everything is at stake.
