Event Safety and Stewarding Qualifications

QNUK regulated steward, supervisor and venue security qualifications, delivered and assessed at your venue

Our Qualifications

1705 Consultancy is a QNUK approved centre delivering regulated qualifications for the people who keep events and venues safe: stewards, supervisors and in house security teams. We train and assess at your venue and events, using your site and your procedures.

Stewarding qualifications. A clear ladder from new steward to supervisor. The Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding is the entry point for new staff and volunteers. The Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety is the full steward qualification expected at designated sports grounds. The Level 3 Certificate in Spectator Safety Supervision is for the people who lead them.

Venue security qualifications. Three short courses from QNUK’s Venue Security and Safety suite, for staff who secure venues and respond to incidents. They sit between SIA licence linked training and the spectator safety qualifications, and support the public protection procedures Martyn’s Law requires.

Supervisors who take charge of incidents can go on to Bronze Commander. If you need the whole event covered, see our event support services.

Event Safety and Stewarding FAQs

Which qualification do our stewards need?

For safety roles at designated sports grounds, stewards need the Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety. New staff and volunteers who support experienced stewards can start with the Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding. Supervisors should take the Level 3 Certificate.

The Award covers the knowledge and is assessed by portfolio, so it can be completed remotely. The Certificate confirms competence, so learners are also observed working as stewards at live events. The Sports Grounds Safety Authority does not accept the Award as an alternative to the Certificate.

No. They are regulated QNUK qualifications for stewarding and venue security. None of them leads to an SIA licence, and anyone carrying out licensable security work still needs the right SIA licence.

Martyn’s Law requires qualifying premises and events to have public protection procedures in place. The venue security courses train the staff who carry those procedures out and give you a record that they have been trained.

Yes, for the Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding and the Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety, with the written consent of a parent or guardian or at the request of their venue. The Level 3 Certificate and the venue security courses are for learners aged 18 or over.

At your venue, anywhere in the UK. The stewarding qualifications are assessed at your own live events, and we plan assessment visits around your event calendar.

Understanding Stewarding £195, Level 2 Certificate £595 (minimum 6) and Level 3 Supervision £1,050, all + VAT per learner. Individual learners: price on application. Responding to Incidents £795, Securing and Monitoring £1,250 and Venue Security Operations £2,250, all + VAT per group of up to 12. Travel in Essex and the surrounding counties is included; elsewhere is quoted separately.

Supervisors who take charge of incidents can progress to Bronze Commander, then Silver and Gold command. Managers responsible for protective security can take the Level 3 CTPSaP.
