Course Overview

Venues rely on their own staff for much of their day to day security: controlling access, checking bags, patrolling, and being first to respond when something is not right. This qualification gives those teams a recognised standard and a shared way of working.

This qualification is part of QNUK’s Venue Security and Safety suite. It sits between SIA licence linked training and the spectator safety qualifications, giving frontline staff recognised knowledge for the job they actually do at events and venues. It is not an SIA licence qualification.

Over two days at your venue, learners cover the full picture of venue security and how it links to your evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and communication procedures. They sit a multiple choice exam at the end of the course.

For venues within Martyn’s Law, it is a practical way to show that the staff who carry out your public protection procedures are trained to do so.

About the Trainer

Delivered by 1705 Consultancy, a QNUK approved centre, and led by Rob Brettell, a former Essex Police Detective Inspector with 23 years’ service. Rob works as a safety adviser and commander at live events, so the training is built on how incidents really unfold at venues and festivals, not just the theory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Martyn’s Law requires qualifying premises and events to have public protection procedures: evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and communication. This qualification trains the staff who carry those procedures out and gives you a record that they have been trained.
