Invacuation and Lockdown Training and Drills
Training and drills that prepare your staff to bring people inside to safety and secure your premises when evacuation would be more dangerous. We help you set clear triggers and scripts, train your team and run an observed invacuation or lockdown drill, followed by a written report.
Course Overview
Sometimes the safest place is inside. Invacuation means bringing people into a building or a safer area, away from a threat outside. Lockdown means securing your premises, or part of it, to stop a threat getting in or moving through. Both are required procedures under Martyn’s Law, and both are far less familiar to staff than evacuation.
This service starts with your plan. We help you set clear trigger points for when to invacuate or lock down, the message and alert staff will use, which doors and areas can be secured, where people should go, and how you will communicate with them and with the emergency services.
We then train your staff in the procedure and run an observed drill, timing how quickly people are brought inside and the premises secured, checking doors, safe areas and communication, and debriefing the team. A written report follows with observations and recommendations.
This is one of our emergency procedures services: Tabletop Exercises, Evacuation Drills, Invacuation and Lockdown, Bomb Threat and Suspicious Item Procedures, Multi Agency Live Exercises and Debriefs and Lessons Identified. If you need the plans themselves written or reviewed, see our Emergency Plans consultancy.
