Course Overview

The Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety confirms that a steward is competent in the role, not just that they know the theory. It is the steward qualification the Sports Grounds Safety Authority expects for safety roles at designated sports grounds, and it is widely asked for at concerts, festivals and large events.

The qualification has 73 guided learning hours, 240 hours total qualification time and 24 credits. Learners build a portfolio for the knowledge, then our assessor observes them working as stewards at your live events. They also complete the free ACT Awareness eLearning before certification.

Because it is assessed on the job, learners need to be working or volunteering as stewards during the qualification. We work around your event calendar, so assessment happens at events you are already running. Learners who already hold the Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding can have that learning recognised.

About the Trainer

Delivered by 1705 Consultancy, a QNUK approved centre, and led by Rob Brettell, a former Essex Police Detective Inspector with 23 years’ service. Rob works as a safety adviser and commander at live events, so the training is built on how incidents really unfold at venues and festivals, not just the theory.
