Paediatric First Aid Training
Practical paediatric first aid training for those trusted to care for babies, children and young people.
Our paediatric first aid courses are designed for childcare professionals, schools, nurseries, childminders, clubs, activity providers and anyone with responsibility for children’s safety and welfare.
Available as either a 6 hour Emergency Paediatric First Aid course or a 12 hour full Paediatric First Aid qualification, training gives learners the confidence and practical ability to respond quickly, calmly and effectively when a child or infant becomes ill or injured.
Course Overview
Paediatric first aid is different from adult workplace first aid. Children and infants can deteriorate quickly, communicate differently and need a calm, confident and age appropriate response.
The 6 hour Emergency Paediatric First Aid course is suitable for those who need essential emergency skills for babies and children. It covers the immediate response to life threatening and time critical incidents, including assessment, CPR, choking, bleeding, shock and the management of an unresponsive infant or child.
The 12 hour Paediatric First Aid course provides a more comprehensive qualification for those working in early years, childcare and education settings. It expands beyond the emergency response and includes a wider range of injuries, illnesses and conditions that may be encountered when caring for children. This is the route usually required for EYFS and Ofsted early years settings.
Training can be delivered at your venue or arranged for group bookings through 1705 Consultancy.
About the Trainer
Training is delivered by experienced instructors who understand the importance of calm, practical and proportionate first aid when children are involved.
Our approach is supportive, realistic and confidence building. Learners are not simply taught how to pass an assessment. They are helped to understand what to look for, what to do first, when to escalate and how to provide clear information to parents, carers, colleagues and emergency services.
