Course Overview

The Safe Administration of Lifesaving Medication qualification is aimed at pre hospital care providers who have a specific responsibility to administer and monitor the effects of medication as part of their role.  Typical learners may include ambulance technicians, associate practitioners, medical technicians and assistant practitioners.

The course covers legislation, guidelines, policies and protocols relating to medication administration, common types of lifesaving medication, patient assessment, determining a patient’s condition, routes of administration, monitoring effects and recognising potential side effects.

Learners must be appropriately qualified and working within suitable organisational arrangements.  Some providers state that learners should have completed FREC 4 or an equivalent recognised qualification and be working with a CQC registered organisation or equivalent.
