Administering Emergency Medical Gases (RQF) - Level 3
Specialist training for those responsible for the safe, prompt and effective administration of emergency oxygen and medical gases in pre hospital care environments.
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Medical Gases is designed for learners who may be required to administer emergency oxygen or analgesic agents as part of their role.
This course provides the knowledge, practical skills and confidence needed to safely prepare, check, administer, monitor and record the use of emergency medical gases in line with organisational procedures and clinical governance.
Course Overview
Emergency medical gases can play a vital role in supporting patients suffering from serious illness, injury, trauma or breathing difficulty.
This Level 3 course is suitable for those working in pre hospital care, event medical support, emergency response, high risk workplaces and other roles where emergency oxygen or medical gases may be required.
Learners develop an understanding of oxygen therapy, medical gas safety, equipment checks, delivery devices, indications, contraindications, monitoring and recording. The course also introduces the safe use of analgesic agents such as nitrous oxide and oxygen mixtures where this falls within organisational scope of practice.
