Lone Worker Safety and De-escalation
Personal safety and de-escalation training for staff who work alone or away from colleagues: home visits, site visits, night shifts and mobile roles. Staff learn to plan safely, spot danger early, calm a situation and get out when they need to. Half day, full day or two days, in person or online.
Course Overview
Lone workers face conflict without a colleague to step in, back them up or call for help. The skills that matter most are the ones that keep them out of trouble in the first place: planning the visit, reading the environment, recognising when something is wrong and leaving early.
This course covers lone working risks and your organisation’s responsibilities, planning and pre visit checks, check in procedures and lone worker devices, dynamic risk assessment on arrival, positioning and exit routes, recognising warning signs, de-escalation when you are on your own, deciding when to leave, and reporting and support afterwards. Scenarios are built around the visits and shifts your staff actually work.
Choose the format that fits your team.
- Half day: the essentials of planning, awareness and de-escalation for lone workers.
- Full day: the core skills plus scenario practice based on your own visits and sites.
- Two days: extended practical sessions, including positioning, exits and moving away from aggression.
All three run in person at your premises. The half day and full day can also run live online, focusing on communication and de-escalation skills; practical and physical elements are delivered in person only.
This is one of our conflict courses: De-escalation Training, Conflict Management for Front of House and Customer Teams, Lone Worker Safety, Personal Safety and Breakaway Techniques, Conflict Management for Supervisors and Managers and Managing Challenging Behaviour in Education.
