Course Overview

The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, known as Martyn’s Law, places new legal duties on premises and events where 200 or more people can be present at the same time. The duties are expected to start no earlier than April 2027, and the Security Industry Authority (SIA) will regulate them.

Much of what is written about the Act is either too general to act on or is trying to sell you something you do not need. This briefing gives managers a straight answer. We take your own premises or events, work out whether you are in scope and which tier applies, and set out exactly what the law asks of you.

For standard tier premises (200 to 799 people), that means notifying the SIA and having procedures in place for evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and communicating with people on site. Enhanced tier premises and events (800 or more) must go further, with measures to reduce their vulnerability, a security document and a designated senior individual.

The Act does not require you to buy any particular training, product or equipment. This briefing tells you what you need and what you can safely leave alone.

About the Trainer

The briefing is delivered by the 1705 Consultancy team, led by a former Essex Police Detective Inspector with 23 years’ service. We deliver the accredited Level 3 CTPSaP and Level 4 Protective Security Adviser qualifications and provide event command and safety management on live events, so you get answers from people who apply this in practice.
