SAFE ONE COURSE

Description

The SAFE/1 course is a supplement to the SAFE course, where an addition will provide training for risks that may be encountered in very hazardous environments, for those who will not have the luxury of a close protection team and are required to be self-serving in their movements to avoid the threats of kidnapping, ransom or targeted attacks.

The course is underpinned with industry best practice for travel and management of potential threats and the hazards posed. The skills and knowledge gained through the course provide reassurance for staying safe overseas, mitigating risks and developing positive actions when faced with danger.

The SAFE/1 course helps build the understanding and reassurance for work in hostile environments and how to work towards maintaining own safety. SAFE/1 differs from HEAT courses, where the likelihood of a threat is less, but the risk potential is apparent. See our HEAT course for more details.

Comera Risk initially designed the SAFE courses to provide FCDO employees and contractors training in safety and security for hostile environment work. Since the course’s inception in 2015, thousands of individuals have been trained providing them with the confidence to stay safe overseas. This course is ideal for anyone planning to work in hostile areas.

Scenario based learning will offer context to protect against threats that will likely result in death or serious injuries, developing skills and knowledge for working with a security advisors to help mitigate the risks. In the absence of a Close Protection Security team where the risk appetite is high and self-service for personal protection in a hostile environment needs development, learners will develop a range of skills including; sharing in resources, PPE, support networking, movement drills in hostile environments and reactions to gunfire. This is contextualised in response to potential threats.
